Rita Siragusa, who was born and works in Brescia, Italy, is concerned that contemporary sculpture is losing its traditional monumental connotations, and prefers to install her works in urban public spaces. Italian public and religious authorities have complied with repeated commissions. Meanwhile, the artist has also begun to develop work that telescopes back from the monumental to the talismanic, sacred art objects and jewelry.
